Jehovah Witnesses (JW) commonly take scriptures out of context here are few concerning the identity of Jesus.
Col 1:16-17 The JW commonly emphasizes the word firstborn to support their presupposition that Jesus is a created being. However, looking at the context it shows clearly the passage says Jesus is the heir of creation and is before all things, thus he could not be a created thing. The word firstborn does not mean first created; if Paul wanted to expresses this he would of used a different word. (It also should be pointed out in Psalms 89 David is called the firstborn)
Revelation 3:14 This scripture uses the word begining, in greek it means origin which could be properly translated scorce.

I recommend Dr. Walter Martin's lectures on the Jehovah Witnesses and The Watchtower Bible Tract Society.
