Something that I found to be very difficult is dating. Dating is not looked at in our culture as searching for someone that would be a possible husband or wife rather now in this generation dating is something one does for fun or some specific reason like sex. How do young adults see through this dirty lens our culture gives us and prevail? Simply, we must seek God’s will and be Biblically minded. The Bible clearly declares God is our provider and that includes a wife or husband.

Here is an interesting poem I wrote. Tell me what you think.
Amanda's Poem
Jesus said “ I am the way the TRUTH and the life no man comes to the Father but by me (John 14:6)”
The Son will make you free indeed…(John 8:36)
I met a woman that was attractive that could cause any man to look at her face and admire God’s creation. This woman implied to me her expressed feelings through her actions towards me. I told her the truth of who I know am, and how God by his sovereign grace changed me. The expression of her face was acknowledgement, a deep understanding into the life of Ryan. I told her dark secrets, so she could see the wonderful light of God that shined through my past life. Perhaps she was surprised to hear me speak the truth of myself which many do not know. I also told her the truth of her beauty, but I could not find the words to tell her from my heart that I knew we were not meant to be together. God has determined all relationships and she was for some else. I am deeply sorrowful for pulling at your heart , and making you feel mixed emotions between me and your lover. May we tell the truth. If it is any consolation; I care about you as a friend that is why I told you the truth of myself. But most importantly, I pointed you to the TRUTH Jesus Christ who changed my sinful, wicked heart, and made me a new creation. I told you of the day God took my heart and changed from stone to flesh. When I fully understood that God is not only loving, but also Just and must punish my sin. That God gave his Son , Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for my sins. God commanded me to repent and forsake my sins and trust in Jesus alone for eternal life. The day the Lord enabled me to believe and repent I was visibly different.
Something I learned from this experience is if the individual that thinks you are attractive wants to engage in a relationship make sure he or she is a Christian. If he or she is not a Christian tell him or her that a relationship would not work because Jesus must be what a relationship be founded on. Unfortunitly this poem was written after I told this girl about me and told her we could be in a relationship if she would accept me for who I am. In other words I told her things I do not do as a Christian and stated if she did not do them also we could be in a relationship. However, this never occured because I believe she reunited with her old boyfriend. I tell this to the reader, so he or she may know to date a believer and tell people that may be attracted to you upfront that you only date Christians.

I often contemplate all of the perils I got into from dating and today I am training and instructing my children (teens) that they should not date but rather when permitted (18 at this point) they should seek to court and find a spouse if they so desire. Bro Paul Washer has a great series on "Christian Dating". Check out the entire series!
